MCT is a saturated fatty acid that shares the commonality of long-chain triglycerides (LCTs) and has its own characteristics. Medium chain triglycerides are only composed of saturated fatty acids, have a low freezing point, are liquid at room temperature, and have low viscosity. The carbon chain length is 6-12, including caproic acid (C6:0), octanoic acid (C8:0), decanoic acid (C10:0), and lauric acid (C12:0). The main components are octanoic acid and decanoic acid. The main natural sources are palm oil and coconut oil.
