Definition:

In terms of chemical structure, Omega-3 is a long (more than 18 atoms) bond formed by the interconnection of carbon and hydrogen atoms,

with 3-6 unsaturated (i.e. double bonds) between them. Due to its * unsaturated bond located on the third carbon atom at the methyl end,

it is named Omega-3. The main members of the 0mega-3 family include DHA and EPA. Chinese name for a group of polyunsaturated fatty acids: fatty acids

Constituent elements: compounds composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen

Foreign name: fat acids

CAS number: 67254-79-9

Commonly found in deep-sea fish and certain plants, it is very beneficial for human health.

Omega-3 powder refers to a powdered form of omega-3 fatty acids, which are a type of polyunsaturated fat that is essential for human health.

Omega-3 fatty acids are important for the proper functioning of the body and have numerous health benefits.

Here are some important chemical details about Omega-3 powder:

1. Chemical Composition: Omega-3 powder typically consists of three main types of omega-3 fatty acids - eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA),

docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). EPA and DHA are typically derived from marine sources such as fish oil,

while ALA is commonly found in plant-based sources like flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts.

2. Molecular Structure: Omega-3 fatty acids are characterized by a long chain of carbon atoms, with double bonds at specific positions.

EPA has 20 carbon atoms, DHA has 22 carbon atoms, and ALA has 18 carbon atoms.

3. Physical Appearance: Omega-3 powder is typically fine and dry, resembling a white or light yellow powder.

The powder may vary in consistency depending on the manufacturing process and other additives included in the product.

4. Fatty Acid Content: The omega-3 content of the powder can vary depending on the source and processing.

High-quality Omega-3 powders usually have high concentrations of EPA and DHA, with minimal amounts of ALA.

5. Stability: Omega-3 fatty acids are prone to oxidation, which can reduce their nutritional value and cause rancidity.

To prevent oxidation, Omega-3 powders often contain added antioxidants, such as Vitamin E or rosemary extract.

6. Solubility: Omega-3 powder is soluble in oils and fats, but not in water. It can be mixed with other powders, oils,

or liquids to incorporate it into various food and supplement products.

7. Health Benefits: Omega-3 fatty acids have been linked to various health benefits, including cardiovascular health, brain function, joint health, and reducing inflammation.

They are also essential for the development of the fetal brain and eyes during pregnancy.
